Key Responsibilities: As the Director of Construction, your mission will be to ensure operational excellence and strategic growth across all projects. Your primary duties will include:
- Executive Leadership: Provide strong, ethical leadership to the project management, field operations, and estimating teams.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement construction strategies, standards, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Project Oversight: Have ultimate accountability for the successful completion of all assigned ground-up projects (e.g., commercial, multi-family, industrial - Customize this based on your focus).
- Budget & Schedule Management: Directly monitor project financial performance, ensuring adherence to established budgets and critical path schedules.
- Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate construction-related risks, ensuring full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and field staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary construction point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
Required Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. (A relevant Master's degree is a plus.)
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial, multi-family, or industrial ground-up construction, with 5+ years in a Director or Senior Management capacity.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, building codes, and standards (e.g., OSHA, ADA).
- Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and budgeting tools.
- Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets, handle complex contract negotiations, and conduct financial forecasting.
- Certifications: PMP, CCM, or professional engineering/architectural license is highly desirable.
