Job Description: Schell Creek Construction is seeking a Construction Project Manager who brings hands‐on field experience, strong organizational skills, and a solid background in estimating. In this role, you will oversee multiple project phases—from pre‐construction through close‐out—ensuring each project is completed on time, within budget, and to our high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities: - Estimating & Pre‐Construction
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed, line‐item cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work.
- Develop bid packages by soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Collaborate with leadership to build accurate project budgets and cash flow projections based on estimating data.
- Update and refine estimates as project scopes evolve; track contingencies and allowances to maintain budget integrity.
- Project Coordination & Scheduling
- Create, maintain, and adjust project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Lead weekly site meetings with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and clients to communicate progress, address issues, and coordinate adjustments.
- Coordinate permitting, submittals, and inspections, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted on schedule.
- Budget Management & Monitoring
- Manage project budgets by tracking expenses against estimates, identifying cost variances, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee change‐order processes: evaluate cost/impact, adjust budgets, and secure client approvals.
- Prepare monthly project reports that summarize budget status, forecasting, and key performance indicators.
- On‐Site Oversight & Quality Control
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor safety compliance, quality of workmanship, and adherence to project specifications.
- Inspect subcontractor work for conformance to plans and specifications; address deficiencies promptly.
- Coordinate with field superintendents to resolve construction issues and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce OSHA‐approved safety programs; conduct periodic safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Identify potential risks or delays early, propose mitigation strategies, and drive timely solutions to keep projects on track.
- Ensure all subcontractors and on‐site personnel comply with company safety protocols.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of construction management experience, preferably in Nevada or the surrounding region.
- Demonstrated expertise in estimating, including takeoffs, unit‐cost pricing, and bid preparation.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Solid understanding of local building codes, submittal processes, and permitting requirements in Nevada.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills and a hands‐on, problem‐solving mindset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
